The trends in efficiency gains in process improvement projects show an initial average improvement of 10%, which increases to 20% after a year and 31% after two years. However, not all projects are successful, with 21% failing to yield any improvements. Even among the successful projects, many regress over time, with only 73% still producing results above baseline after a year and 44% after two years. Continuous improvement is also not guaranteed, with only 51% of initially successful projects continuing to improve a year after launch and 36% after two years.
