Can you explain how the Scrum methodology can be incorporated with the Kanban system?

Scrum and Kanban can be incorporated by using a system known as Scrumban. In this system, the iterative development and roles from Scrum are combined with the visual workflow and limiting work-in-progress (WIP) from Kanban. The team works in sprints as in Scrum, but the planning, review, and retrospective meetings are optional or as needed. The work is visualized on a Kanban board and WIP limits are set to ensure smooth flow of work. This approach provides the structure of Scrum with the flexibility and efficiency of Kanban, making it suitable for teams that need to handle a mix of planned and unplanned work.

Question was asked on:

These days, the Kanban system isn't executed with physical notecards. Kanban was eventually adopted by the software industry and is often used with the Lean or Agile project management method. Agile is an iterative project management style, where the manager breaks a big project into smaller projects that are planned, designed, built, and tested individually to ship faster. Because Agile is a project management philosophy, and Kanban is a project management tool, the two can be used simultaneously and even incorporated with the Scrum methodology to work on a group of tasks in a short period known as a sprint.
