A real-world example of a successful project that utilized milestones effectively is the renovation of a house. In this project, the milestones could be the rooms that need renovation such as the kitchen, bedrooms, living rooms, bathrooms, and everything you can find in a house. These milestones mark significant progress in the project and make it easier to track what has been done and what is yet to be done.

Question was asked on:

We can list the milestones now that the basic project information and team structure are ready. Milestones are critical events or stages within your project that mark significant progress and can have multiple tasks – which we will cover later. In this example, the milestones could be the rooms that need renovation for a successful house flip — kitchen, bedrooms, living rooms, bathrooms, and everything you can find in a house. As a result, it's easier to track the progress and what is yet to be done.

Apart from milestones, there are several other methods to track progress in project management. These include Gantt charts, which provide a visual timeline for tasks; Kanban boards, which allow for real-time progress tracking; and burndown charts, which show work left to do versus time. Additionally, regular status meetings and reports can also be effective in tracking progress.
