Belbin's Team Roles are a model that can be used to help build a successful team by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of team members. There are nine roles that Dr. Meredith Belbin identified, they are: Plant, Resource Investigator, Coordinator, Shaper, Monitor Evaluator, Teamworker, Implementer, Completer Finisher, and Specialist. Each role has a set of specific strengths and allowable weaknesses. Teams that have a balance of these roles tend to be more effective because they have all the necessary skills to manage themselves and complete their work. It's also important to note that individuals can and often do take on more than one role.
