A team can be motivated to develop their own solutions by empowering them with good, meaty questions that prompt them to think through the problem. Instead of dictating what needs to be done, ask them and their leadership how they can help achieve a certain goal. This way, managers and leaders have a different role: helping to define and shape the problem, so that the team is empowered to develop a solution. The destination is agreed upon, but the path to get there has yet to be paved.
